PCN’s Ethernet clients are “conductive media” communication modules developed to allow integrators and network owners with the ability to rapidly transform existing paid-for copper infrastructure into extremely reliable Internet enabled networks as if CAT 5/6 wiring were installed and without impacting existing automation and control functionality & operations.

PCN’s latest IP-485® Single Channel Client for Automation & Control networks is Part# PCN3485-SCC1 allowing you to utilize and transform already paid for wiring into an immediate IP network infrastructure placing Ethernet anywhere you want it.

For those customers that need to maintain legacy Serial network operations; Part# PCN3485-SCC1 allows you to transport and access both Serial and TCP/IP data on the same infrastructure all at the same time. Both networks operate independently in their native “standards based” format and type.

For example, many customers use PCN3485-SCC1 to “multi-drop Ethernet” networks over functioning RS-485 serial networks (e.g. RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, 4-20mA, and others). This allows network operators to maintain all of the benefits of existing Serial/Analog network operations that are working today; while simultaneously allowing migration, transition and upgrades to IP networks with Ethernet where you need it.

All PCN networks are scalable, repeatable and can be cascaded to any distance or scale – meaning current & new PCN products of any type can be dropped in at any time building on earlier networks. This allows managed migrations and upgrades to take place at the proper schedule, budget and pace for integrators and network owners without ever impacting existing business operations, network functionality, service or support contracts, or other applications.

Superior to “converters” Part# PCN3485-SCC1 allows sharing of the infrastructure guaranteeing "no serial packet chunking" during the transport of serial data. PCN3485-SCC1 guarantees contiguous serial data packet and data bit integrity allowing usage for mission critical timing serial network protocols while independently transporting TCP/IP network data. No more data tunneling artifacts or timing mishaps due to converter inefficiencies.

PCN Part# PCN3485-SCC1 works in conjunction with either the PCN Part# PCN3485-SCS1 for smaller network deployments; OR the 19” rack mount PCN3485-MCS4 for larger TCP/IP network deployments.
