Dave Karpenske, Chief Executive Officer
Dave was appointed as PCN's Chief Executive Officer in December 2013. Prior to joining PCN as its Chief Operating Officer in April of 2013, Dave was the Vice President of Strategic & Corporate Marketing at JDS Uniphase (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU). JDSU is a world leader in Communications Test & Measurement, Commercial Optical Products, as well as Optical Security and Performance Technologies. Dave brings to PCN over 25 years of successful leadership in operational management including experience in both strategic and business development.
His background includes running successful divisions having annual revenues and P&L's of over $500M in combined product and service sales along with annual engineering budgets exceeding $80M.
Prior to JDS Uniphase, Dave was Sr. VP & GM at Credence Systems where he joined in 2003 after spending 25 years with Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB). At Schlumberger he ultimately held the position of President of North and Central America where he was responsible for Schlumberger's Telecommunications, Semiconductor Equipment, Smart Cards and IT Managed Services.
Dr. S. Venkat Shastri, Chief Industry ADvisor
Dr. Shastri is a world-recognized leader in the fields of intelligent automation, control and robotics. He came to PCN from Palomar Technologies where he oversaw the designing, building, integration and support of high-precision technologies needed to assemble complex packages with the highest levels of accuracy and reliability.
Dr. Shastri has held positions as Senior Director of Engineering and Product Development at KLA-Tencor; one of the world’s leading suppliers of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related micro-electronics industries. He spent five years with SRI International, the leading research institute as Director of Robotics and Intelligent Automation, as well as, a senior research scientist.
Respected for his research in automation, his scientific and academic background includes; Engineer for the Mars Pathfinder project; Senior Research Scientist at Yale University; Member of the Technical Staff at the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL), and Research Consultant & Professor at Stanford University.
Venkat received both of his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering, and a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
David M. Strumpf, Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
David is PCN’s Chief Technology Officer and the lead architect of PCN’s technology portfolio and related products. He is a recognized leader in the fields of automation and control with emphasis on Internet Protocol (IP) enabled communication systems for critical infrastructure.
David has been the lead developer on multiple technologies for industrial systems including wireless and wireline sensor and timing technologies, embedded control systems, cyber security, hardware, software and firmware. He is also the primary developer of new sensor technologies for bio-chemistry processing.
Prior to PCN, David was the Lead Engineer and Development Manager of Industrial Energy Management software for energy and power systems. Previous positions also include R&D Manager with ABC Laboratories and Director of Engineering for medical automation systems.
David has significant experience in project management and in the development, design, and commercialization of mission critical products. David is also one of the first consultants at Microchip Technology (MCHP) and is well known as an embedded systems engineer and technologists. He has worked closely in the technology development, embedded system design, integration and overall project management with companies such as Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Tyco, Haier, Amana, General Dynamics, Honeywell and others.
Daniel Drolet Sr., EVP of Marketing & BUSINESS DEVelopment
Daniel is a recognized leader & expert in the fields of Intellectual Property (IP) Asset Management with a focus on commercialization of advanced assets within the fields of communication, networking, and overall information technology .
Daniel has gained a national reputation in IP Asset Management and has been highlighted in a number of publications regarding the commercialization and management of technologies developed by Public & Private Companies, VC Backed Start Ups, Universities and Government agencies. Some of these include; Entrepreneur, Control Engineering, Fortune, Red Herring, Automation, TechCrunch, Inventor's Handbook and others.
Listed in “Who’s Who among IP Technology Professionals and Executives”; Daniel is also the Chairman of IPG Worldwide, an Intellectual Property Asset & Technology Management firm that was also the angel investor in PCN. In addition to co-founding PCN with David Strumpf, Daniel successfully managed IP Assets for/from Sony Pictures Imageworks, Lucent Technologies, Bell Labs Advanced Research, Johns Hopkins University, University of Strathclyde and more. Daniel's ability to quickly assess advanced technologies and how they can be deployed by prospective customers, partners and markets overall has led to multiple strategic corporate engagements.
